(Hong Kong, 15 January 2025) – Tam Jai International Co. Limited (“TJI”, “Tam Jai International”, “Tam Jai” or the “Company”, and together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”; HKEX stock code: 2217), one of the leading and renowned restaurant groups in Hong Kong, is pleased to announce that its flagship brand “TamJai Yunnan Mixian” (譚仔雲南米線) has, for the first time, title-sponsored the Hong Kong comic martial arts dance drama “STORM CLOUDS”, a performance by the Hong Kong Dance Company (“HKDance”) based on the classic works of the renowned comics artist Mr Ma Wing-shing. This will be complemented by a series of themed activities to help nurture local creative talent, promote the heritage of Hong Kong comics, and foster the development of culture and arts.

The legendary local comic “Storm Riders”, a part of the collective memories of Hong Kong people, is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. After almost a decade, HKDance has once again collaborated with the creator of this comic series, bringing the Hong Kong comic martial arts dance drama “STORM CLOUDS” to the stage of the Grand Theatre, Xiqu Centre, West Kowloon Cultural District in February 2025. With cutting-edge multimedia projection technology, lighting effects, electronic music and a gleaming pool of water on stage, the production will recreate the world beyond imagination that the comic portrays.

In collaboration with a leading local art and technology team, and a group of talented artists, HKDance held the “STORM CLOUDS: Outdoor Dance Performance with 3D Projection cum Opening Ceremony” on 11 January at the Piazza of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Mr Daren Lau, Chairman, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of TJI, was invited to the event, together with guests including Mrs Janet Lee Lam Lai-sim, wife of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Ms Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Yang Yuntao, Artistic Director of HKDance and Mr Ma Wing-shing, original creator of “Storm Riders”.

Apart from title sponsoring HKDance’s “STORM CLOUDS” dance drama, Tam Jai will organise a series of themed activities between January and March, including launching limited-time mixian offerings, setting up themed cross-over stores and pop-up stores, offering an array of exclusive themed merchandise, and also a Hong Kong comic design contest, with the aim to promote local comic art culture and groom a new generation to keep the classics alive. The Group will also extend the promotional activities to the Mainland China market, launching themed limited-edition meal sets and merchandise, giving out Hong Kong travel packages and tickets to the “STORM CLOUDS” dance drama, allowing Mainland Chinese customers the chance to experience the unique culture and artistic vibe of Hong Kong in person.

Mr Daren Lau, Chairman, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of TJI, said, “We are honoured to join hands with HKDance for the first time and be the first Hong Kong restaurant group to collaborate with the local classic comic IP ‘Storm Riders’ to present this martial arts dance drama. This represents a pioneering collaborative initiative across the catering, comic and dance sectors, encouraging more young people to participate in art creation and supporting the development of local art and culture, which echoes with the Group’s ‘Uplifting People’ philosophy. Through this cross-sector collaboration, Tam Jai hopes to tie our distinctive ‘Tam Jai Taste’ with the Hong Kong comic culture, allowing the public to appreciate and experience the charms of Hong Kong comics in various ways, thereby broadening the reach of the city’s unique vibe and classic art and injecting new vitality to the development of local art and culture.”
