(Hong Kong, 28 August 2023) Tam Jai International Co. Limited (“TJI” or the “Company“, and together with its subsidiaries, the “Group“; HKEX stock code: 2217) adheres to the Group’s motto of “Giving Back to Society” and continuously fulfils its ESG mission through various key projects and charitable activities. In 2021, TJI established the “Tam Jai Goodness Trust (“Trust”) and has expanded the Education Support Scheme for Employees’ Children (“Scheme”) which started in 2015, to the Group’s level. This year, the Group awarded a total of approximately HK$1.6 million in scholarships to 47 employees’ children, providing support for them to complete undergraduate degree programs at local universities.

“TJI Education Support Scheme for Employees’ Children” award ceremony was held today. In addition, the inaugural “Golden Mom Award” was concurrently presented at the ceremony. This Award aims to recognise dedicated efforts from the frontline staff (“TamJai Jeh Jeh”), who wholeheartedly cared for their families while making significant contributions to the Company. It was a moment of joy for the awardees to share the stage with their children. TJI also produced a captivating short documentary for the big screen, featuring “TamJai Jeh Jeh” and their children The documentary showcases heartfelt conversations between the mothers and their children, along with behind-the-scene footage of the children’s internship at their mothers’ workplace. The children were able to experience at first hand their mothers’ hard work, and could better appreciate their mothers’ unconditional love for them.

TJI is dedicated to advocating sustainable development and established an ESG strategy with the three core pillars of “Nourishing Communities”, “Uplifting People” and “Preserving Nature”. The Scheme demonstrates the Group’s commitment in “Uplifting People”, aiming to alleviate the financial burden of employees in providing higher education for their children. It serves as an expression of the Group’s care and support for employees while promoting equal educational opportunities, empowering youth for upward mobility and encouraging their societal contributions. Employees who have been working at TJI for three years or more are eligible to apply; successful applicants will have their children’s tuition fees in local universities subsidised by up to 80% for each academic year.

Since the official launch in 2015, over HK$5.8 million in scholarship funds have been distributed to 182 children of the Group’s employees. In addition to providing financial assistance for tuition, the Group also offers a 72-hour internship opportunity for the children of successful applicants. The internship enables the children to personally experience their parents’ work environment and the hard work required, gaining valuable experience, and helping to strengthen parent-child communication.

Mr. Daren Lau, Chairman, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tam Jai International, said, “I am delighted to witness an increasing number of employees benefiting from the Scheme, and the strengthening bond between our employees and their children and even with the Group. We have always prioritised fostering a strong connection with our employees, ensuring that they feel valued and appreciated for their contributions. We will continue to put in more resources to uphold one of our ESG core pillars “Uplifting People”, nurturing the next generation of talents, injecting vitality into not only Tam Jai International but also the entire catering industry, striving for mutual growth and creating a brighter future.”
