(Hong Kong, 31 August 2020) Tam Jai International Co. Limited (“TJI”) is pleased to announce the latest exciting developments in the expansion of their two brands – TamJai Yunnan Mixian (“TamJai”) and TamJai SamGor Mixian (“SamGor”). SamGor will expand its footprint beyond Hong Kong and set up their first overseas store in Singapore, with the vision to bring unique spicy flavours to the international market. In addition, in response to the high demand from office workers in the central commercial area, TamJai will open in Central, Hong Kong, so that people working there can satisfy their cravings for TamJai without needing to stray far from their offices.

Since 2018, TJI has worked hard to enhance the famous TamJai and SamGor brands with the long-term goal of expansion into international markets; SamGor’s pioneering entry into Singapore marks the first step. Three stores are expected to open in the last quarter of this year. Located in Bedok Mall, a high traffic residential mall, the first overseas SamGor measuring 1,270 square feet is expected to open in late October. The second and third are scheduled to open in November in Chinatown Point and Vivo City, with floor areas of 2,282 and 1,711 square feet respectively.

Daren Lau, CEO of TamJai International, said “Since Toridoll Holdings Corporation acquired TamJai and SamGor in 2018, we have dedicated our resources to strengthen our market positioning, enhance operation standards and efficiencies, develop innovative products as well as improve overall food safety and food quality. Supported by the dedicated efforts of all our colleagues, we have now built a solid foundation, and we believe that this is the right time to expand our brands overseas. The opening of SamGor in Singapore will bring our special spicy flavours and authentic Hong Kong food style to overseas markets and help to establish our unique spicy spectrum as the new international standard for hotness.”

SamGor is a popular chain of mixian (rice noodle) outlets rooted in Hong Kong. Our bespoke tastes of “Fragrant, Numbing, Hot & Spicy” in Hong Kong will also be delivered to our Singapore customers. The famous soup bases such as Mala with various levels of hotness, original “To Fei Chicken Wings”, as well as the Hong Kong-style of fish balls and cuttlefish balls will all be presented in the Singapore menu. In addition, there will be some local favourite toppings and side dishes created to meet the local taste.

Meanwhile, TamJai will open its first branch in the heart of Central in Hong Kong in the last quarter of this year. Located in the China Club Building, this branch with floor area of 8,514 square feet provides over 200 seats set out on two floors to meet the very high volume of crowds within the short span of lunch hour in Central.

Daren Lau continued, “We are very confident of the long-term development of our two brands. There has been plenty of requests from our customers to open TamJai in Central. The recent economic downturn has brought down shop rents significantly, and we have taken the opportunity to find this highly visible and accessible spot for TamJai in this area. Our affordable, tasty and high-quality food has finally come to Central, providing a good meal option to all nearby workers. We will continue to review our business expansion plan both locally and overseas, and strive to achieve a balance between popularising our brands and sustainable business growth.”

As at 1 September 2020, TamJai and SamGor have 65 and 66 branches in Hong Kong respectively. Apart from SamGor opening three stores in Singapore, there are also plans to open the first TamJai store outside Hong Kong in Shenzhen this year. Then even more people will be able to taste the unique flavours of TamJai mixian.
